Reimagining St. Louis: Trivers Projects Featured on America ByDesign

Created on

Two Trivers projects were recently featured on America ByDesign, highlighting distinct approaches to transforming existing buildings in downtown St. Louis. From the historic adaptive reuse of The Victor to the repositioning of 100 N Broadway, both projects demonstrate how thoughtful design can give existing structures new purpose while responding to their unique context.

The Victor

The transformation of the historic Butler Brothers Building into The Victor represents one of downtown St. Louis’ largest adaptive reuse projects. Originally completed in 1906, the 735,000 SF building has been reimagined as a vibrant mixed-use community with 384 residential units, retail, coworking and amenity spaces.

100 N Broadway

Just blocks away, Trivers repositioned 100 N Broadway by transforming its dated banking atrium into a light-filled workplace destination. Selective removal opened the interior, allowing existing skylights to bring natural light deeper into the space. A monumental stair is carefully positioned above the existing bank vaults, while views toward the Old Courthouse and Gateway Arch connect the building to its downtown context. The transformation gives the 1970s building a new identity while remaining grounded in its place.

Together, the two projects illustrate different opportunities within existing buildings, from historic preservation and large-scale adaptive reuse to strategic interventions that reposition a building for its next chapter.
