Southern Illinois University Wall and Grand Student Apartments

Creating a new entry point into the campus of Southern Illinois University, this communal university housing development was planned around the natural topography and mature vegetation in an otherwise underutilized site. Located adjacent to the Student Recreation Center and the Student Health Service building, the apartment style living quarters, ranging in size from 1000-1300 square feet, house 400 full-time university students. The orientation and massing of the structure create an interior courtyard that promotes community within the development in conjunction with a connection to the natural environment.
