The Northside Movement Center represents a collective partnership between ArchCity Defenders and Action St. Louis, two nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing equity, justice, and systemic change in the St. Louis region. Conceived as an “anchor for the advocacy ecosystem,” this adaptive reuse project transforms the former New Northside Family Life and Conference Center into a vibrant, community-centered headquarters and gathering place.
Located in St. Louis’s North Pointe neighborhood, the 36,000-square-foot facility brings both organizations offices under one roof while providing flexible convening spaces, a gymnasium, and areas for co-working and future tenants. The reimagined center supports the mission of the Northside Movement Center to create a welcoming beacon for community collaboration and empowerment.
Guided by values of accessibility, transparency, and inclusion, the design celebrates transformation through community building and social justice. The renovations foster connection and visibility, positioning the Center as both a physical and symbolic hub for collective action in North St. Louis.
