The Crunden-Martin Manufacturing Company, a historic complex consisting of seven buildings constructed between 1904 and 1918, is situated within the Chouteau’s Landing industrial neighborhood, just south of downtown St. Louis and the Gateway Arch National Park. These buildings, designed by two prominent St. Louis architectural firms – Mauran, Russel & Carden, and Tom P Barnett & Company, were erected over several years, encircling a rail spur vital to the operations of the Crunden-Martin Manufacturing company.
The renewal of these structures marks the inaugural phase of Gateway South initiative, envisioned by Good Developments Group. Gateway South, spanning approximately 100 acres, aims to revitalize the downtown St. Louis riverfront adjacent to The Gateway Arch grounds. Conceptualized as the Building Industry Collaboration District, it co-locates the Building Industry’s most ambitious pioneers to promote efficiency, innovation, and address pressing national challenges stemming from productivity gaps in conventional construction practices.
Trivers serves as Historic Architect on the project as a consultant to lead design architect, Eldorado. As part of our services, Trivers spearheaded communications with the Missouri State Historic Preservation Office successfully shepherding the project toward federal and state historic tax credit approval. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2024.
