With the opening of the new Key Clinic in January 2026, Trivers is celebrating the completion of an eight-year-long project with DOORWAYS, an interfaith non-profit organization that provides housing and supportive services to those battling homelessness or unstable housing, poverty and poor health from HIV.
The partnership began in 2018 to envision a centralized Jefferson Avenue campus for DOORWAYS. Trivers served as lead architect and interior designer for the new three-acre, $40-million campus — one of the largest investments in the North St. Louis community in decades. The campus includes 89 one- and two-bedroom apartments, a 76,000-square-foot Client Services Building, a 14,000-square-foot Administration Building, a BOCA Pharmacy Group retail pharmacy and now the Key Clinic.
DOORWAYS hosted a grand unveiling of the Key Clinic on January 14, 2026. The clinic was created to fill critical gaps in health and medical services, particularly for those living in and around the health care deserts of North St. Louis.
The Key Clinic will offer the following services:
- Low-cost STI and STD testing
- Routine check-ups
- Low-cost pregnancy testing
- Shots and vaccines
- Other health care services
“The opening of the Key Clinic brings closure to a project that started in our office almost eight years ago, and it’s very exciting to see the final piece of the campus already making such a meaningful impact,” said Neil Chace, AIA, Trivers associate principal. “This clinic provides essential services in a true health care desert by serving DOORWAYS residents living on campus, staff working in the area and neighbors who’ve long needed more accessible options.”
In 2025, AIA St. Louis awarded Trivers a Distinguished Award – Social Progress in the Architecture Category for DOORWAYS’ Jefferson Avenue campus.
