Denoted as the capstone to the Blumeyer HOPE VI Revitalization on the north edge of St Louis’ Grand Center Arts District, the St. Louis Housing Authority Central Office Building is the mixed-use headquarters for SLHA which also includes a first floor full-service bank branch and a neighborhood café.
The architectural response of the exterior focused on modern contextualism for this neighborhood in transition. Achieved by appropriate massing and scale in conjunction with thoughtful material selection and detailing, this ensures synthesis with the neighborhood while creating a space that is modern, energetic, and inspiring.
At its core, the development is designed to improve human health and productivity, lower cost building operations through reduced energy use, and provide a vibrant, welcoming environment for staff, clients and partners. The flexible floor plan, high ceilings, abundance of natural light, connection to the outdoor courtyard, and environmentally conscious features like a reflective roofing system, 100 kW photovoltaic system, and waterless and low-flow fixtures depict an inspiring and thoughtful new image for SLHA.
